Costa Rica is rich in International Cuisine. Luckily for us ‘Pizza Lovers’, Costa Rica is amongst the greatest countries in the world in terms of ample Gourmet Pizzerias. Just forget about Papa Johns or Pizza Hut when visiting Costa Rica. In my journeys’ traversing this great land as a foodie, I’ve enjoyed many opportunities to bask in the array of local pizza establishments. A few of which, really stick out in my mind. So, here is a breakdown of COSTA RICA"S TOP 5 PIZZERIAS!
Merriam-Tico's - DictionaryTico-time , \ Tee-ko - time \ , noun, adj. ;
1. Costa Rican time. Ex. ...an appointment set in Costa Rica for a particular time is only an approximation of said time, typically within - plus / minus - two hours. 2. of, pertaining to, or showing the passage of much time in reference to the tardiness of another 3. duration in terms of how long one might expect to arrive Ex. ...1st Mae- "How long till they're here Mae?" 2nd Mae- "Tico-Time Mae. No Say...? Maybe, he already came!?" The past twelve years of visiting and living in Costa Rica have made it abundantly clear that finding any location I want to go to, will inevitably take longer than anticipated. The daunting task of following directions without address numbers or street names can make every direction a puzzle in its own. Addresses like, “150 meters East of the grocery store, 75 meters North, the small white house with a little-tree and blue-gate,” can really test a Tico’s nerves, much less foreigners. Typically when buying bulk, a discount is involved right? Check your prices, as this is not necessarily so here!Often, I'm left scratching my head in sheer disbelief... WHY? ...how could this be?
I really enjoy attempting to understand why the backward things I come across happen to be so. There are so many topics I could touch on that once explained, MIGHT make sense. For me, pricing of many goods is not one of those things. Many times prices here just do not make sense at all. Please, if you have a reasoning for the following rational, let me in on the secret, as I would really like to know. Candied Copper River Sockeye w/ Asparagus & |
I consider myself a connoisseur of very few things. This. Is. One. of. Them. Unfortunately, in my recent life, their has been a few years accepting sub-par concoctions of cold-chocolate-creaminess. Now that I'm back in CR, I cannot stop drinking! After chugging down 2-4 liters each day, I've come to realize a few things about 'Cocoa Dulce', 'Dos Pinos' milk, and myself. The first, there must be heroine in this stuff as I cannot satiate my cravings. |
Second, ALL other coco milk brands don't have there stuff together, and finally, perhaps, God put 'Cocoa Dulce' here to test my tolerance of becoming a glutton. On top of that, my belly has become lactose intolerant. But still, nothing holds me back from drinking the stuff till I overload... on a daily basis.
Seriously, if your a milk fan, you'll love it in CR. Dos Pinos does one heck of a job creating extremely high quality dairy products. Their milk is slightly off white, with a creamy, buttery hue and taste. I imagine it tasting like the fresh churned milk my Grandma describes drinking when she was a child.
